After class my teacher once told me/
He shot a cow at age 10/
By that logic I shot 5 at age 9/
17 at age 11/
And another 51 by age 15/
Yet people don’t call me a murderer/
A year ago, two men were killed in a car-crash on T.V./
It made national headlines for a day/
State news for a week/
And local news for a month/
In fact by the time you have read up to this line/
26 thousand chickens have perished/
Off this global face/
Somehow it’s not a genocide because/
‘geno’ means ‘gene/
And ‘gene’ means ‘race/
and ‘race’ means ‘human’/
It is time our politicians embrace this/
But the “demo” in democracy means/
“People” and
People/
Don’t/
Care./
