Pressure Point
BY ALICIA TAY '27

it starts off

light and fun

as if i were

floating on clouds

soaring through the skies

without a fear

the cool, fresh air

welcoming me

in the midst

of the pinkish orange skies

dark tendrils of night

creep into sight

almost unnoticeable at first

yet they rise

more and more

until i can’t ignore

i feel myself spinning

in the air

as my heart drops

to my stomach

the fear of falling

envelops me

into its menacing

grasp

as i continue to fall

the pinprick of

those orangish pink skies

becomes smaller and smaller

until it disappears completely

and all i can see

is dark

nothingness

my heart beats

faster and faster

as i try to swim upwards

back to safety

yet something holds me

back down

pulling me down

back towards the abyss

suffocating me

in its grasp

and i start to

lose sight of where i was

where am i?

who am i?

how did i get here?

fear encases me once again.
